The Washoe Tribe Watasheamu Health Clinic was designed to incorporate some of the basket weaving cultural history of the tribe with a thoroughly modern 15,000 sf outpatient health clinic. The interior includes medical services wing, dental services, eye care services, and public health and counseling. The building is designed to be easily expanded for future radiology and other services. The building receives its clients from the south east toward which it opens its waiting room with protected glass. The dome structure over the entry and waiting area is meant to symbolize a basket. The masonry near the entry and the roof of the dome structure at the building’s center incorporate patterns that are meant to represent the Tribe’s basketry history.
