The Promenade of the River is an elegant housing community for active senior citizens. There are 84 custom living units and over 30,000 SF of beautifully appointed common areas. These include; a central atrium lounge, library, pool deck, health salon, two story, sky-lighted dining room, river lounge, multi-purpose room, arts room, movie theater and demonstration kitchen. The Promenade is a remodel of the incomplete 525 Court Street Condominiums. There were two buildings stepping down hill from Court Street to Island Avenue on the Truckee River. Each building is constructed around a sky-lighted atrium space. In 1991, Barada-Fuetsch determined the condition of the buildings and concluded that these buildings would convert well to a senior residential use. Eight years later Barada-Fuetsch Architects provided services to determine the feasibility, secure a special use permit for the conversion, identify and resolve all of the building code deficiencies and reconfigure the 85,000 SF of 4,000 SF condo units into an elegant and successful senior community.
