Sparks, Nevada

The Sparks Senior Center is a 5, 700 sf new facility completed in the fall of 1990 for$650,000. The building provides services and facilities for Senior Citizen programs operated by Washoe County. There is a2,400 sf multi-purpose room with a warming kitchen and storage spaces for the nutrition programs. There are 3multi-use office for ad-ministration and rotating senior service representatives. There is also reading library space, a games room, and a crafts room with display space.  The building, which is designed for expansion, is located in Church Park taking advantage of the park spaces and activities to expand its own programs.  Barada-Fuetsch Architects provided complete design services for the creation of this facility. Programming began with the Senior's Citizen's Advisor committee which was composed of staff and interested Sparks Senior Citizens.

We worked with the group over a period of weeks to compose a list of activity spaces which the users wanted and the community could afford. Upon approval of the Program we designed the building, assisted in bidding and provided construction administration. The project was completed within budget, on time with a minimum of change orders.
