Sparks, Nevada
This $3.4 million dollar project located in Sparks, Nevada increased the capacity of this maximum security evaluation facility from 36 beds to 48 beds. A 12 bed sleeping room wing and a combined intake and visitors unit were added. The simple design re-uses the existing gym to become an expansion of the central multi-purpose room. A new gym was created in the West courtyard where it is attached to existing, central circulation spaces. A new central security control room was created with visual surveillance of both multi-purpose spaces. All work was completed while the facility was occupied, and design services included phasing plans and strategies to insure security and reduce staff stress during remodeling.
